Heather and Huy's wedding was incredibly beautiful and unique. Their ceremony was held in the Estate Room of the Palm Event Center in Livermore which is lined with wine Barrels and lit with little tea lights. The front of the room was framed with two trees, decorated with orchids and dripping with jewels. Along with the beautiful white and purple lighting, the effect was gorgeous! They also had a special light projector set up that shone their own personalized "Panda and Bunny" (their nicknames for each other) design on the ceremony and dance floors. Huy designed it himself! Such a great addition.

I also have to mention that when Huy saw Heather for the first time, he just instantly started crying. It was so sweet! It is amazing how much they love each other!

Check out how cute their shoes are! Heather changed into some Converse for our photoshoot outside and she had even decorated them with with little rhinestones. They thought of everything!

Rosaria and Nan were married at the beautiful Clos LaChance winery in San Martin. Their ceremony was held outdoors on big grass field, surrounded by rolling hills and a gorgeous vineyard. Rosaria made for such an elegant and beautiful bride! She is the kind of girl that just exudes grace, especially in her amazing and intricate lace gown. Her mom also deserves a huge mention! She put together all of the flower arrangements and helped so much with the decorations. And of course we can't forget Nan whom is incredibly sweet and loving. They make such a perfect couple!

Both Rosaria and Nan changed into amazing, traditional Korean outfits for some photographs. I am in love with the colors of Rosaria's Hanbok! So gorgeous!

I can't get over how perfect the colors and lighting were in the room where Rosaria got ready. I couldn't have asked for anything better!

Instead of a guestboot they had a "Wishing Tree" where guests wrote special notes for the bride and groom. So sweet and fun!

Half Moon Bay Villa Montara Buddhist Wedding | Sarah + Mike

You couldn't ask for a more photogenic couple than Sarah and Mike nor a more gorgeous backdrop than that of the Seaside Montara Villa! Not only is the house architecturally incredible and unique, it backs onto the edge of a cliff, overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. It is definitely one of the most breathtaking venues on the California Coast. And as if that wasn't enough on it's own, their wedding had so many incredible details that we had to show you them all! Succulents as wedding favors and in Sarah's bouquet, personalized match boxes, hats and parasols for the ceremony, giant clam shells bordering the ceremony site and an absolutely stunning cake! Their guestbook was actually the trunk of a tree and the guests were to put their thumbprints in shades of green ink onto the branches so that they looked like leaves! Such a fun idea!

They held a Buddhist ceremony, which was wonderfully original! It ended when the monk showered the couple with flower petals as they kissed each other for the first time as husband and wife. It was so sweet!

There were so many great toasts given to Mike and Sarah that it seemed impossible to top them. Then Mike gave his toast to Sarah. There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd as he gave the most romantic and heart felt speech we had ever heard.

Veronica and Nelson were married in Ascension Cathedral in Oakland which is by far one of the most breathtaking buildings we have ever seen! The ceiling was a mosaic of painted figures and gold panels, highlighted by several blue, stained-glass windows. Their reception was held at Scott's Seafood Restaurant in Jack London Square with a gorgeous view of the bay outside. We had a great time photographing Veronica and Nelson because they never stopped having fun! All of their friends and family kept us laughing all day long. It was pleasure to be part of their big day. Congratulations, Veronica and Nelson!

Simply saying that we had a great time at Brooks and Sarah's wedding is probably the biggest understatement of the year. These two are absolutely amazing! Just by being with them for the day, we could tell just how truly in love they are with each other. They kept us laughing all day long and after it was all over, we just wanted to keep hanging out with them! We count ourselves as lucky for being able to be apart of such a heartwarming event.

Can we just take a minute to admire how gorgeous they are? I mean, come one! Save some good looks for the rest of us!

I love how all of the toasts were so emotional! You can really tell how much their loved ones mean to them.

Michelle and Brian are such an awesome couple with equally awesome kids! They have technically been married for years but they never had a big ol' fancy ceremony to celebrate it with their loved ones. Lucky for us, they invited us to be part of their long anticipated day! The ceremony and reception both took place at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, spread across the huge grass lawn, surrounded by trees & beautiful vineyards.

One of my favorite moments throughout the day was listening to all of the speeches. Because they had already been through so much together, their words to each other were extra special. Everyone whom spoke seemed so touched to know them as a couple and really spoke from their hearts.

It was such a pleasure to be part of such a memorable evening and I know that they will continue to enjoy the next 50 or more years of marriage together!

Calistoga Napa Engagement Bridal Portrait Session | Regina & Brian

The love story of Regina and Brian is one out of a movie! A year ago, Regina was living in China and Brian in San Francisco. Both knew nothing of each other until one day a mutual friend of theirs introduced them to each other over the telephone. After that initial phone call, they couldn't get enough of each other! They talked over the phone for four months afterwards, talking to each other every day, until they decided enough was enough! Brian bought a plane ticket out to China where they officially met for the first time and fell in love! Soon after, Regina moved out to San Francisco to live with Brian. Now they are engaged and planning to get married in China in October!

Since they had such a unique love story, we knew that their engagement session must be, too! We travelled all around the Napa/Calistoga area, visiting Castello di Amorosa and Solbar, their absolutely favorite restaurant at Solage Resort and Spa. We incorporated some of their favorite activities, such as playing Jenga and walking the streets of San Francisco. We had a blast!

San Francisco East Bay Rustic Vintage Train Yard Engagement Photography Session | Han & John

I had a blast shooting Han and John's engagement session! They were so fun and easy to work with. They had so many creative ideas and were willing to try anything for a good picture. They even ran up a huge hill for me so that I could get the perfect shot before the light changed! It was my first time shooting at these east bay locations and I fell in love with them immediately. We visited an amazing train yard with vintage cars from the early 1900's. We were lucky to meet some super sweet workers there who actually let us inside some of the trains! It was nearly 100 degrees inside, but Han and John were troopers! After losing about 5 pounds and sweating all my make-up off, (which was totally worth it!) we drove about 10 minutes to a nearby national park. We hiked up a hill and set up a little picnic scene where they enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries, custard tarts and a bottle of wine. It made the scene even more special because it was their favorite foods, and they had it on their first date. So cute! They even brought me some blueberry jam and a baguette to enjoy and allowed me to join their romantic picnic!

I'm incredibly excited for their wedding later this year since we had such a blast at their engagement session last week here in the East Bay!

I am in love with Han's fabulous blue dress! What a beautiful contrast to the towering pillars in the background.

San Francisco Engagement Photography Session - Golden Gate Bridge- Cable Car | Kathy, John & Kaitlyn

Kathy and John met in San Francisco, so shooting their engagement pictures out in the city was a must! A couple years ago, when they lived in San Francisco, Kathy, John and Kaitlyn, Kathy's daughter, would go to Crissy Field to hangout and relax nearly every weekend. It has such a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge! Kaitlyn would read and Kathy and John would play a game of Scrabble and sip wine. I loved having Kaitlyn there with me to help out. She knew the perfect things to say to get her mom to smile!

These few pictures in the coffee shop are very special. Every morning, the two of them will sip coffee as John reads the paper and Kathy works and reads on her iPad. Occasionally, Kaitlyn will get a turn on Kathy's iPad and apparently she is quite a pro when in comes to playing Angry Birds!

Isn't Kathy so creative?? She figured out this whole set up before we started shooting!

I loved their block letter idea!

I think it's great to take photos that reflect the activities that couples do in their daily lives. It puts so much more meaning into the session and creates an even more memorable image!

Leah and Carlos were married at the always beautiful, San Francisco City Hall. The ceremony was so intimate and sweet! We even had time before the ceremony to chat with their amazing and friendly family members.

I can't get enough of Leah's short, Jackie O style dress! Carlos' aunt actually hand made it! The pearl jewelry and simple black pumps she paired with it are a perfect compliment! Also, I have to mention Carlos' mustache. Isn't it so much fun?

They are such a great looking couple and it was a pleasure shooting their wedding!

A little girl came up to Leah while we were shooting outside of the Palace of Fine Arts and said "You are a beautiful princess!" How cute is that??

I just want to say that I absolutely adore Sarah and Mike! We had such a great time shooting their engagement session!

We started at Fort Point, which was built to defend San Francisco Bay just before the Civil War began and is located right beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. The old, crumbling brick walls make for such an interesting and unique background! We also took some photographs at the old Sutro Bath ruins in San Francisco. I especially loved the outfit Sarah wore for these photos! Her big hat and long dress and Mike's vest and sunglasses made them look like they were doing a modeling shoot! I just love their style.

Here is yet another example of how beautiful outdoor weddings can be! This wedding was located at a private vineyard in Sonoma and was full of personality! There was a mariachi band to serenade the guests, as well as country western band at the reception. The guests sat on hay barrels as they ate rotisserie chicken under the sun, surrounded by big trees and sunflowers. They even ate rice pudding for dessert! Wendy, the bride, wore a gorgeous, unique gown that fit the country western theme perfectly. I love photographing weddings that have such a personal style!

We took the groom and groomsmen to Jack London Saloon for some photographs before the wedding. I love how unusual the setting was for pre-wedding photos. It makes them so much more memorable!

Best Maui Surf Instructor -Zack Howard Surf - Maui Family Portrait Photography | Zack & Sarah

Maui was amazing. There is no other destination like it in the world. I'm eager to share with you one of the best highlights of my trip ~ surf lessons with Zack Howard!

Years ago, I tried surfing, but after a bad accident that put me in the ER, I've been too scared to try it again.
It's taken me years to build up enough confidence to even attempt another lesson. Zack helped me tackle my fears and was the most incredible teacher. His patience and positive feedback really put me at ease, not to mention he's been a lifeguard for 10+ years. I felt so safe within his company, and he let me work at my own pace. One lesson turned into five... Just like that!

After getting to know Zack during our early morning lessons, it became clear to me just how much his family means to him. I heard so many wonderful stories about his wife and children, which just made me want to meet them more. Did I mention he's a world famous surf legend? One of the evenings before I departed Maui, we decided to meet for a casual family portrait on Paia Beach where Zack and his wife Sarah were married. The kids were amazing and the sunset was perfect, and everything made for a dream photo session. I love it when this happens because it just feels so effortless. There is a natural beauty in their smiles... They are one stunning family. It literally took my breath away in the editing room!

If you are looking for an amazing private or group surf instructor in Maui, I guarantee you will not find anyone better than Zack Howard.
Mahalo, Zack for breaking my fear of the waves. I can't wait to return to the island... I'm counting the days!

We just returned from a gorgeous destination wedding in Maui for Mandy and Luke. I just loved the traditional Hawaiian ceremony with the conch shell, tea leaves and lei exchange. It's so unique and makes me want to have a Hawaiian wedding. The palm trees, the flowers, the beach and the mountains made me never want to leave!

Piedmont Community Hall Wedding | Lisa & Eric

Lisa and Eric live and work in Washington D.C., however Lisa was raised in Piedmont and really wanted to have their wedding in the city where she grew up. I met her at her parent's house (which was absolutely gorgeous!) where she was getting ready. The house was full of old photographs of Lisa and her brothers which made me realize how important pictures are to her family. It made me feel so special to be able to be taking the photographs of her on her wedding day.

The ceremony was held at the beautiful Piedmont Community Hall. It's such a perfect place to hold a wedding! Big trees, easy to walk trails and the there is a reception hall within walking distance from the ceremony with a kitchen and everything! It's so convenient, especially for bigger groups.

Anyhow, back to the bride and groom! Lisa and Eric are an awesome couple. They are so laid back and fun and definitely not afraid to speak their mind. While taking their pictures at the Berkeley Marina, there were tons of crazy kites flying around and they were quick to say that they had to have a couple photos with the kites!

The reception hall was beautiful, with wood beams and chandeliers decorating the ceiling. There is also a huge windows on the wall which lets in so much natural light! The food, catered by Royal Raspberry, was delicious! Their team was so friendly and helpful as well.

Lisa really wanted to take pictures at the Berkeley Marina because of how much the bay played a part in her childhood.

Oakland Catherdral of Christ the Light Wedding Photography| Son & Thuy

Son and Thuy's wedding was one of the most fun events that I've photographed! It was such a great mix of traditional and modern.

The day began at the Thuy's parent's house, where Son and his family arrived with gifts to ask permission to receive the bride, a very important part of Vietnamese tradition. It marks the official moment that Thuy's parents give their daughter away to her groom. When Son first saw Thuy in her beautiful orange Áo dài dress, he began to cry. It was so emotional and sweet! You could tell how happy he was to be marrying her. After the meeting, they pour their parents cups of tea and the parents in turn give advice about marriage and family.

The ceremony was held at the Oakland Cathedral of Christ the Light which is an enormous, breathtaking Catholic church. Where most Catholic churches are closed, this church interior shines with natural light.

The reception was at the Asian Pearl Restaurant in Fremont where the real celebration was to begin! While Thuy and Son were in the middle of their first dance together, the music changed and the wedding party jumped up and they all started doing a choreographed dance together. Everyone was laughing! The dancing only got more and more exciting as the night went on.

A bottle of Hennessy at each table and an open bar kept the party going all night!

Her cathedral veil was so long and stunning, especially when it was blowing in the wind.

I love the unique and colorful bouquet of yellow calla lilies and monkey tails! Also, the bridesmaid dresses were the same texture of Thuy's gown. Such a great idea!

When we tried to go downstairs next to the cathedral, but it created a wind tunnel and almost took off Thuy's veil!

These two photographs were taken at the beautiful Lake Merrit in Oakland at the Lake Chalet Restaurant.

These were taken at the Piedmont Community Hall which is such a great place to take photograph because it has such a gorgeous park and you don't have to hike to get to all the wonderful trees!

I love the natural light shining through the trees.

Can you believe that this Asian Pearl, a chinese food restaurant!? Decorated with big white drapes and purple uplighting, it looks absolutely regal!

Giant champagne glasses! This couple knows how to celebrate!

They had so much fun, they stole my assistant and brought her onto the dance floor!

Carmel by the Sea, Monterey Bay Wedding Photography - Lovers Point Wedding| James & Breanna

James and Breanna were married at Lover's Point in the city of Pacific Grove, just down the road from Monterey. These two have such a great retro style which fit the location perfectly! I love the hat with the feather that James wore as well as his awesome vintage looking tie. Breanna's red lipstick and full gown made her look just like a princess from a fairy tale!

They held their reception in the Barbara McNitt Ballroom at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, a huge, grand room that has played host to such historical stars such as Jean Harlow, Clark Gable and Carol Lombard! The decorative, candle lit chandeliers set such a romantic mood for the night.

The whole event was so elegant and fun with a traditional twist. Congratulations James and Breanna!

Can you believe Breanna did her own hair and make-up!? She looks absolutely gorgeous!

Their wedding color scheme was blue and orange. I love how the bridesmaids are dressed in all blue and the groomsmen are all wearing those vibrant orange boutonnieres!

See what I mean about looking like a princess in that dress? Instead of bustling her dress, she holds it while they dance. It's so dramatic and beautiful.

Palace Hotel Wedding, San Francisco Jewish Wedding Photography | Jennifer & Ian

I absolutely love shooting Jewish weddings! There are so many different parts to it that make is so special. Some of my favorite moments to photograph are the Bedeken and Tish. The bride and groom are celebrated by their family and friends in separate rooms individually before they are celebrated as a couple. The groom and his groomsmen then dance into the room where the bride is waiting and the groom lifts her veil to verify that it is, in fact, his bride to be. It also marks the moment that the two are allowed to see each other for the first time in over a week. It is followed by even more dancing and celebrating.

The ceremony, held at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, was beautiful. The Palace Hotel is one of the oldest in the city, originally built in 1875. However, the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 demolished it and it was rebuilt in 1909. It has been host to many grand events and works perfectly for Jewish weddings because of the variety of rooms inside.

I love listening to the Sheva Berachot (The Seven Blessings) and watching as the groom breaks the glass and everyone shouts, "Mazel Tov!".

I have never seen so much dancing at one wedding! From the Hora to hula hoops and jump ropes made of table napkins! How creative! The Bride and Groom were treated like royalty the entire night!

Her smile couldn't be any bigger when seeing her groom for the first time in a week.

The groom also can not contain his happiness when first seeing his bride.

You can tell by the way he looks at her that he's in love!

Can you tell that the groom is excited? I want to be in that chair someday!

Another Jewish tradition is celebrating the parents of the bride when the bride is their last child to give away. Raising a child and giving them away is a very special moment in a parent's life.

Do you remember this couple's wedding from a few years ago? It was a beautiful ceremony and I was happy when they asked me to take some casual family photographs of them! Baby Charles was so full of energy and a joy to take pictures of, as was the rest of the group. You can just feel the love they have for each other and what a happy family they are!

Baby Jake is one of the happiest babies I've ever met! I love all of the different expressions he gives me. He's only six months old and already he likes to flirt with the ladies! How can you not love that double chin or those big, baby eyes?

San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photography | Gigi & Kelvin

Kelvin and Gigi were married at San Francisco City Hall, an extraordinary building which is not only beautiful, but also incredibly affordable. There is something special everywhere you turn.

Gigi perfectly exudes that glamorous, old Hollywood style, from her fur wrap to her birdcage veil. The softness of her lace gown contrasts wonderfully with the strong angles of the architecture around her and her pink calla lilies pop out against the neutral decor. And if that wasn't enough to create a perfect photograph, the light was shining perfectly through the building.

After photographing the couple in the rotunda, we moved out onto the city streets, taking photographs in Ghiradelli Square and even on a cable car! The driver was so sweet and friendly and made sure that he got a photograph with the bride!
